While most Town Clerks are associated with the various licenses available through the Clerk’s office, that is only a small part of our job. Generally, the Town Clerk’s office is considered the “center” of information for the community. While this is true, we do much more than just have information you may require.

LICENSING OFFICER
We issue State licenses/permits, which include marriage, dog, hunting, fishing, games of chance, bingo and handicapped permits.

Marriage License - A couple intending to marry in the State of New York must complete an application for a marriage license. Both the bride and groom must sign the marriage license in the presence of the town or city clerk. There is a 24-hour waiting period from the exact time the license was issued. The license is valid for 60 days. The cost is $40.00. Proof of age and identity is required. Proof of age must be a birth certificate. (non US born must provide a certified translated birth certificate) Proof of identity may be a driver’s license, DMV-issued non-driver’s license, valid passport, original naturalization papers, Military Photo ID or employment picture ID. Information regarding previous marriages (divorce/death) must be furnished in the application for a marriage license.
